Arthur Loren Munson, 81, of Elvaston, died at 7 a.m. Friday (Aug. 21, 1992) at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Born April 21, 1911 in Carthage, Mr. Munson was a son of Marion A. and Bernice G. Landon Munson. He married Selma A. Miller September 1939 in Elvaston. She survives. Mr. Munson received his masters degree in chemical engineering from the University of Iowa in 1934. He had worked as a chemical engineer at Electro Metals in Keokuk, Iowa, until retiring in 1973. He had attended Elvaston Presbyterian Church. Survivors include two sons, Loren of Armonk, N.Y., and John of Moline; two brothers, Marion of Houston, Texas, and Weldon of Carthage; three sisters, Betty Strubinger of Carthage, Irene Vacek of Tucson, Ariz., and Agnes Campbell of Bushnell; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Munson was preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Webber and Dorothy Kiesow; one son, Richard; and two brothers Francis and Leon. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton by the Rev. Harry W. Losey. Burial will be in Elvaston City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today with the family meeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Dialysis Unit of Blessing Hospital or Elvaston Presbyterian Church.
