Marysue, The first thing which came to my mind was Appanoose. This is the township north of Nauvoo along the Mississippi River in Hancock Co IL. I went to the website http://topozone.com & searched. I finally pulled up this (below my message) when I typed in Niota, IL (which is located in Appanoose township). Appanoose is written in various locations on this particular map. I'm not sure, but there may have been a town named that in the past. I have attended a women's presbyterial meeting many years ago at Appanoose Faith Presybterian Church somewhere in that vicinity. I wonder if it is near the Appanoose Cemetery on this map, but I'm not sure. It is listed at RR, Niota on the Hancock Co IL churches. http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/healthcare/h/church.html http://www.churchangel.com/WEBIL/niota.htm What time frame are you looking at?
