The Mournings were in-laws to Thomas B. and Rachel Griffitts. Sarah Almina Griffitts, their youngest daughter, married a Miller D. Roberts and His mother was Nancy Jane Mourning. All three families; the Griffitts and Roberts and Mournings all lived in and about the Hancock county area during the mid 1800's and there are several inter-marriages between the families.
