There are two McGee cemeteries in Hancock county. John Frost is unlisted in Warren Van Dine's reading of the Wythe township McGee cemetery in 1965, according to the Hancock County GenWeb listing of burials at that time. The web page gives an accurate description of the driving directions to the Wythe township McGee cemetery in the SW quartersection of Section 13. Mary has reported this cemetery no longer appears neglected as described by Van Dine in 1965. We appreciate the efforts of the volunteers and the taxpayers of Wythe township for efforts in maintaining it. You can also find this McGee cemetery at www.topozone.com by entering McGee cemetery, IL which marks the location and has its name. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilhancoc/mcgee.html The Illinois State Genealogical Cemetery Location Project page for Hancock county lists the other McGee cmeetery in Hancock county, located in the SE quartersection of Section 12 of Hancock township. The Hancock township McGee cemetery is not shown on the Hancock County GenWeb listing of cemeteries. There are a few Dillard family stones in this cemetery and Marcia Farina's Hills Grove cemetery partial listing of obituaries includes an obituary for Samuel McGee which states his parents and two sisters are buried at Hancock township McGee cemetery "on the farm." This cemetery is located just west of the Hancock-McDonough county line road about due east from Joetta, which can be located on www.topozone.com west and north of the village of Tennessee, Illinois. Hancock township McGee cemetery is in very poor condition. It is located perhaps 1/8th mile west of the county line road on private property. It would seem from the size of the cemetery that there would be more burials there than the four McGee burials and the Dillard stones.
