    1. Davis & Burton
    2. Hi All, Does anyone know anything about John T. Davis and Margaret Burton who lived in Hancock County? I just learned that she might be related to my Burton family from Wayne County Illinois. Margaret & John were married 23 Nov 1858 in Hancock County and they had two daughters, Emily Gertrude who married Blake P. Humphrey and Laura Virginia who married William G. Webb. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows about this family. When did Margaret & John die and where are they buried? The last I found them on the census was 1880 but I did pick their daughters up on the 1900 census. Was Margaret the daughter of William Burton from Columbiana County, Ohio? Thanks. Roberta Summers

    3. I just emailed the Hancock County Historical Society about membership at the hancockhistory@yahoo.com and in the reply they(Frank Burkett, volunteer,) sent this following message about the e-mail address::::: Please use our other email address in the future hchs68@adams.net. We are getting so many kooky emails on yahoo it is hard to tell which ones are genuine and related to genealogical pursuits. Just thought I would pass along this info. 2. None of my 1870's have had the parents listed. Most of mine showing the parents have been in the 1890's. Now then on ordering these death certificates you can also call IRAD in Macomb and order them for $1.00. The number is 309-298-2716 and usually they get them right out in the mail but it has to be listed on the State Archives showing they have it and you need all the numbers listed. Mine I have gotten from the County clerk are better quality since IRADS are from Mico-film and may not be as clear. Some I have gotten you can hardley read them. Roberta Summers

    3. Helen, For the time period you need, these have been filmed and are at the IRAD and the FHL. There is a lady in Springfield who can get them for you at $4 or $5 who goes to the archives and makes copies. I can send you her email if you want. I am leaving on vacation tonight but when I return (about the 22nd) I will see what I have that I can send. Eva was married twice and had several children with James Cook. She married Anton Geier and her only child from that union was my mother-in-law who lives in AZ. My mother-in-law's name is Betty. I have quite a few generations back on the Bryan's/Painters and associated families. I believe Mary's mother's name was Delila Painter...or something like that.
