Hi, Someone wanted information on the Rickert family do you have the 1900 census information? Shawnnee
Hi, Did someone want information on the Espy family or did you just want to know where Espyville or Espy is located. Shawnnee
Hi All, Can anyone tell me if there is a Burnette cemetary in Bentley. I have not been able to locate it to add to the website. I am still looking for information on ? Perry and his wife possibly Elinor. The parents of Catherine (Perry) Crenshaw. Catherine was born March 30, 1821 in Ohio. She married Paschal Crenshaw February 28, 1839 in Hancock Co, Illinois. She died February 11, 1885 in Hancock Co, Illinois. Her father died before she was married, but living close to her was an Elinor Perry who I think might have been her mother. Are there any Perry descendants from any other Perry Families out there? I have descendants of Luther Perry, and John Corbin Perry. Shawnnee
My connection to Hancock Co. is the marriage of Joseph W. CARTER and Rachel WALKER. THey married on March 23, 1848. However, they do not ever appear in the Hancock Co. census. I think I may have found them in 1850 in Spencer Co, IN. He was a preacher, so I am starting to think that maybe he was a travelling preacher! Can't ever pin them down! They eventually ended up Ohio, where their son George was born (no info). George married in Piatt Co, IL in 1870. If anyone knows anything about Joseph and Rachel, I'd love to hear from you! Hi All, Please remember our veterans today who gave up so much for us and our country. Also I don't know if anyone has checked out the Hancock Co, web site lately http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilhancoc/ We have a page called Unknown Burials. I don't know about any of you, but I have lots of family members and friends I went to school with, that I know died in Hancock Co, but do not know where they are burried. Send me your information so I can post it. The only way we are going to find out where they are burried is get the information out there and maybe someone who goes to the cemeteries might just come across a name on the list and email us and tell us which cemetery they are in. Do any of you live in Hancock Co.? How many of you have lived in Hancock Co? I have. I have just made up an index for the known burials so you don't have to look at each cemetery to find your people. We currently have 148 subscribers to this list and I have only heard from 15 or 20 people. We all have lots to share. If you want to find your relatives lets post them to the list so we can help you. If you are just lurking and do not know how to send a message to the list email me and I will help you. Have a great day and let me here from you all. Shawnnee
It has come to Shawnnee and mine's attention that there are approximately 150 subscribers on this list. Researching MESECHER family from 1850 on. Job and Elizabeth Mesecher apparently died leaving their children placed with various families. Would like to find information on the deaths of Job and Elizabeth... have searched with no luck for a burial site or death record. Nicholas Mesecher son of Job and Elizabeth Mesecher died shortly before or the first of 1860. He is said to have drowned while panning for gold in the Platte River near Grand Island, Nebraska. Would like to hear from anyone else who has found "stories of seeking gold" in their research. Would there be a list or record of those from Illinois who went West to search for gold in 1859-60? Nicholas MESECHER married Mildred Emiline ADES. After his death Mildred married Isaac LATHROP. The surname Mesecher has many varied spellings. Thank you, Cecelia

I have census records from early to 1920. and I am always going through them. Please send your information to the list. Maybe someone else has a connection and can help you. Thank you All. Shawnnee >> Shawnee, My grandparents, John and Matilda LIETZ, lived in Hancock County and farmed near Warsaw for a short time. They should have appeared in the 1900 census there but that would be the only federal decennial census taken during the time they were in Hancock County. I have found on the internet a listing to a John Litz with wife Matilda and four children and I think that might have been them but the person who made the entry in the internet database probably misread the census entry or the census taker made an error. Do you see any indication of this census entry? Thank you and keep up the great work, Dennis Lietz
Researching LIETZ in Hancock County. Erroneous spellings such as LEITZ and LITZ are also possible. My grandparents, John and Matilda LIETZ lived in Hancock County across the turn of the century, i.e. 1900. They farmed near Warsaw and my father was born there. Dennis Lietz

I'm looking for information on the Samuel Fisher family in Hancock Co Illinois 1860 to ?. One of Samuel and Elizabeths Daughters Louisa Fisher Married Thomas Wright in Cathage 1878. I would like to know if Thomas Wright was living with the John Baker family in the 1870 census. Thomas was an orphan born in Ireland. I don't know how he ended up with the Baker family, or how long they kept him.The Hancock Co page has so much information on it I spend a lot on time researching it, thanks Shawnnee--Sally@cavenet.com
I'm still looking for Charles Schenck, who supposedly stayed behind in N.J. when Christian and family came to Nauvoo. Now I've learned that Charles was married to Alice Golden, and in the LDS IGI pages, there is a reference to an Alice Golden in Hancock. Could be he came out for just a short time, got married and returned. Does this combination ring a bell out there. Emerson
