    1. [ILHANCOC] IRIS GRIFFITH RICH - 1974
    2. Good morning -- I have copies of 3 letters written by a lady named IRIS GRIFFITH RICH in 1974 as she was researching her husband's family. Would anyone know who this lady is, if she is still living, and how I could make contact with her or her descendants? At the time of the letters she was living in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Her husband's great-grandmother was listed as RACHEL JANE DERRY (b-1842), daughter of BASIL DERRY and SARAH ?? Her husband's DERRY ancestors were from the Adams, Schuyler, Hancock Counties of Illinois and Lewis County, MO. I do not know who RACHEL JANE married (possibly a WILLIAM L. ALEXANDER) but this is unconfirmed. I do not know the descendant line from RACHEL JANE down to Iris Rich's husband and would like very much to establish this and contact the family. Thank you for any direction -- Joan Derry MDMama2841@aol.com

    1. [ILHANCOC] Richardson family in Hancock
    2. Geo. Hartwell
    3. Amber The Rootsweb World Connect got me this posting and maybe your Richardson family will be in the book cited below. With the input of that posting I have gotten to go back another generation!!! and can look for the Civil War records which is something I suggest to the patrons at the Family History Center do yet I have never done myself. (I volunteer at the Family History Center each Thursday) Joseph and Nancy(Taylor)Richardson have 4 sons and 1 daughter. I only know information on 3 of the sons. William via census data; Edward via Hancock Ill scrapbook film from Salt Lake City FHC collection; Harrison Albert who is my direct line. Do not know more on Joseph S. or Mary pass the 1880 census I have copied the index of the Illinois 1850 and 1860 census would you have need of them? Also have photocopy (Richardson name) of A General and Everyname Index to the History of Hancock County, Illinois (12 fiche #6046998 is in the my local FHC) by Hugh Mc Harry which is index of the 1880 text of the Family History Library film (I will need to look the number up if you need it) How successful have you been looking and tracking your family through the census? 1850 census list all the family members by name and age!! 1880 ? or 1900 census list the birthplace (at least the state) of the mother and father of each person!! I can sent this to you through the "snail mail" good old Uncle Sam. I do not do all the fancy stuff of scanner etc. Take Care and Happy Hunting Georgia Posted by Gary E. Looking for BASIL DERRY, died 14 March 1899. His second wife, FREDERICKA, died on 5 Sep 1903. Basil's first wife was named SARAH DERRY and she died in 1851. 1. [ILHANCOC] DERRY
    2. Researching the DERRY line out of Adams, Schuyler, Hancock and Brown Counties in Illinois. JACOB DERRY (1797-1877) and wife RACHEL (nee BRIGHT). They had 9 children. I am primarily interested in second-born son, BASIL DERRY, born in 1820. Some data states that he was possibly a postmaster with name spelled DEARING. It was also mentioned that he could have been a Brethren minister. Other variant spellings are DAIRY, DAISY, DARRY, DARY, DERY, etc. Thank you! Joan Derry

    2. Shawnnee Ramey
    3. Hi All, Here is one of my Biggest Rock Walls. I have 2 major Rocks. I will send the other one seperately I am looking for the Perry Surname. My GGGG grandmother was Catherine (Perry) Crenshaw. Her father died before she got married to Paschal Crenshaw in 1839. Therefore he is not in the 1850 census records. I can not connect her to any parents until I find out who was in the county at that time. I think her mother might have been Elinor ( ? ) Perrry as she lived close to Catherine and was born in 1790 in Virginia. In the 1880 census of Hancock Co, it says Catherine's mother was born in Virginia and her father in Kentucky. Catherine was born in Ohio, so I am not sure where her father died, weather it was in Ohio or Illinois. I sure would like to find any information on any and all the Perrys of Hancock Co, from early until 1850. Maybe I can make some connection through gathering information on all of them. Shawnnee

    3. Amber, Tell me about your Gibsons. I descend from David Gibson, b 1813-1815 in Ohio. He married Catharine M. Lee in Hancock County in 1840. All of their children were born there: Martha Jane b 1840, George L b 1843, Horatio b 1847 (my great grandfather), Ely b 1850 and Asher(?) b 1855. They are in Hancock for the 1850 and 1860 census that I know of for sure but then they disappear. Horatio shows up in Neosho County, KS in the 1880 census. Does any of this fit? 1. [ILHANCOC] Roll Call: CAULKINS-BOOZ, "Hap's Motel"
    2. Roger Stegall
    3. I'm mainly researching my CAULKINS family but would like to know more about Martha BOOZ and her family such as where they came from in IL. She was born Mar. 1861 in IL, married Benjamin Franklin CAULKINS on Nov. 6, 1879 in Hancock Co. Their first child was born in Hancock Co. I found Martha and her husband in the 1880 census in Clark Co., MO, living next door to James and Nancy E. BOOZ and children. I'm assuming those were Martha's parents and siblings. Martha died Feb. 14, 1901 in Clark Co., MO after giving birth to her tenth child. I visited Benjamin Franklin and Martha CAULKINS' gravesite in Clark Co., MO last year and have been in contact with several of their descendants. Also, one of their sons, Fred CAULKINS, known as "Hap" or "Happy" built and owned a motel in Carthage from 1945 until 1958, when he sold it. It was known as "Hap's Motel." I asked at a couple motels in Carthage about the place but nobody seemed to know what I was talking about. If anyone can help with information on the Caulkins and Booz families, I'd like to hear from you. Linda
