Munson passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O'Dell, in this city Sunday night about 11 o'clock, aged 82 years, 1 month and 19 days. She was born in Logan county this state and was united in marriage to Darius C. Munson, Aug. 19, 1855, who preceded her in death fifteen years ago, his passing being coincident with the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage. The funeral took place Wednesday morning from the Methodist church and the interment was made in the Baptist cemetery east of Carthage. Surviving her are the following children: Mrs. Augusta O'Dell, Mrs. Lena Kennedy of Urbana, Ill.; Mrs. Ida Blackwell of Peoria; Mrs. Miriam Dill of this city, Charles Munson of Davenport, and Turner Munson of Ft. Madison and William of Butler, Mo. Twenty-seven grandchildren, of whom Oscar O'Dell of Carthage is one, and thirty great grandchildren also mourn her passing. Mrs. Munson was a good woman of simple tastes and desires. Munson Dies In Hospital Joseph Langley Munson, the son of John and Loucinda Langley Munson; was born Feb. 28, 1870, two miles south of Carthage. He passed away June 30, 1953 in Memorial hospital at the age of 83 years, 4 months and two days. On March 11, 1895 he was united in marriage to Eva Elsie Newhard who with three children survive: Mrs. Mary Edith Grainger, Carthage; Mrs. Mabel Cleo Henderson, Glasford; and Laurence Lester Munson, who is traveling in the West and could not be located. Also 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Except for 13 years he lived in Iowa, he has spent his entire life in Hancock Co., Ill. His parents, seven brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He was the last surviving member of his family. The funeral was held at the Elms Thursday with Rev. Walter C. Burk and Rev. Elmer Castrodale officiating. Mrs. Vernen Webster and Mrs. Leonard Miller were in charge of the music. Pall bearers were Harry Jobe, Delmar Jobe, Wm. Susanna M. Lambert was born on the old Lambert homestead in Rock Creek township, Hancock Co., Ill., September 16, 1865. She was married to Frank Mapes, Feb. 19, 1889. To them were born four children as follows: Lester R., aged 13, Emery F., aged 11, Hazel A., aged 8 years and Flossie V., aged 7 months. The husband and children are left to lament the loss of a kind and loving wife and mother. Her aged father, five sisters and six brothers survive her and mourn the loss of the youngest member of their family. She died at her home near Ferris, Ill., April 22, 1904, at the age of 38 years, 7 months and 6 days, lamented by all who knew her. The funeral sermon was by Elder Jas. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mapes, together with the former's brother-in-law, wife and child, were driving to Nauvoo in a wagon. The horses became frightened in some manner and started to run. The wagon tongue was jerked out of the neck yoke, and running into the ground threw the wagon end over end, precipitating the occupants violently to the ground. Mrs. Mapes received terrible injuries about the head, face and breast, and the remainder of the party were badly bruised. He came to Hancock county, Illinois when about twenty-one years of age and has resided in the county ever since. On November 22, 1866 he was married to Miss Narcis A. Kimbrough at Carthage, Illinois. To this union four children were born, a daughter, Clara died in infancy; surviving are Frances S., Thomas J. and Mary E. all of this vicinity. He also leaves eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. His wife died May 25, 1922. The children desire to express their heartfelt thanks to their friends and neighbors for kindness during the illness and death of their father. Funeral was held at the Christian Church, Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, October 5th. Burial at Moss Ridge cemetery, Carthage, Ill. J. W. Porter conducted the service.
