    3. Posted on: Hancock County, Il Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Hancock?read=1035 Surname: DAVIS, BOTTS ------------------------- Samuel Spitler DAVIS had parents, Samuel Wilson and Sarah Spitler DAVIS. They were married in Rockbridge County, VA. They moved to Hancock County, Illinois. Not sure when they came there. Samuel S. DAVIS was in the Civil War in 78 ILL Company D Infantry, and died in the Battle of Jonesboro. He is buried at Marietta, Georgia in Grave 5545. Born 1841, he died September 1, 1864. The battle only ran from August 31 - September 1. He was a Union Soldier, which is why he was not buried at Jonesboro, but at Marietta. I am interested in anything and everything having to do with this family and siblings of Samuel Spitler DAVIS. Thanks so much! Vincent E. Summers

    3. Coleen, I don't know if this will help at all since I still don't know if it is Elderville Cemetery. You may have to find someone who lives in that area, or e-mail from the website for Hancock Co Historical Society & ask if someone might be able to help. This webpage (URL below) shows Elderville, a now tiny town at a crossroads 5 miles due west of the center of Basco. There is one cemetery showing on the plat book for Wythe Twp which is not showing up on this map site. (The plat book gives no names for any of the cemeteries.) To see the location of this unmarked cemetery follow on the map one mile south of Elderville, then west 1.5 miles on the north side of the road. It should be directly down from the red "Section 21" marking & just left (west) of the #"668" on this page. http://topozone.com/map.asp?lat=40.3302&lon=-91.2943&s=25&size=l Other cemeteries shown on the plat book "near" Elderville appear on the webpage below shows Wythe Twp cemeteries In Section 17 Wythe Twp --- Wythe Cemetery at the intersection of 2 county roads In Section 19 Wythe Twp --- Congregational Cemetery, east of Hwy 96 http://topozone.com/map.asp?lat=40.3313&lon=-91.3661&s=25&size=l Mary Jane JCDOC@aol.com wrote: > HI! Now I see from the Ill. marriage index that there was a William J. KINCHELOE who married Emeline MARCKLEE in Hancock County on February 23, 1865 (Vol. 4, page 16, License 1805. Maybe I have been looking for the wrong name. Maybe I should be looking for her parents as William and Mary (WALKER) WORDSWORTH. Do any of you listers know of any WORDSWORTH living in Hancock County? William was supposed to have died in 1889 near Warsaw, Hancock County Illinois. I would certainly appreciate any response to this inquiry, that might lead me to any WORDSWORTH. Posted on: Hancock County, Il Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Hancock?read=1025 Surname: Davis ------------------------- Am searching for the son of Robert "Bali" Davis born in Ferris, Ill, son of James Andrew Davis. The son's name was Wilford Davis and he was born in the 1920s. The family resided in Naiota, Ill. which I think is a part of Hancock County. Any info appreciated - am trying to tie up the lose ends in family history or "tie up the missing cousins" so to speak.
