I am specifically looking for George L. Clayton he is believed to have died in about July or August of 1923 or 1924. He is the father of Alonzo L. Clayton who is buried there in the Dallas City cemetery. I have been unable to locate a cemetery that George L. might be buried in. I think it is possible that he was buried in the Dallas City cemetery also, probably in the potters field, without a headstone. I was able to go thru the cemetery records at an insurance company downtown Dallas, however the records aren't very good, as they didn't even have Alonzo in the list. I don't know where or who else might have better records, if anyone. If you think there is any connection, please let me know. I don't have much, since trying fo find George has led me to a brick wall, but anything I have up to that point I am more than willing to share. Thanks, djm113@aol.com

Pleasant Church; In Memoriam Lloyd Munson, 37, highly regarded farmer of the Plymouth community, was crushed fatally when a tree fell on him about 3:20 last Thursday afternoon, December 2 while working on the William Johnston farm, better known as the late Robert Robison farm, 4œ miles southeast of Augusta. Mr. Munson, Mr. Johnston and Henry Mayall, the former two residing in the Plymouth rural area and the latter a resident of Plymouth, were cutting logs on the mentioned farm, located in the northeast corner of Adams county. The men were cutting a large tree, about 16 inches in diameter, with a power saw. They had cut halfway through the tree when it suddenly split down the middle and part of it fell, pinning Munson to the ground. Mayall and Johnston, who barely escaped the falling tree, worked frantically to get the tree off Munson but he passed away before they could accomplish the removal of the tree. Mr. Munson suffered crushing injuries about the head and chest and a fracture of the right leg. His body was removed from the accident scene to the Cookson Funeral home in Plymouth where an inquest was held by Coroner Gerald Points of Adams County, Thursday night. The jury returned a verdict stating that death came from injuries, accidentally sustained when the tree fell. The young man had had experience in working with trees almost from childhood and he was also experienced in moving buildings, raising buildings and making foundations, as he had long helped his father, the late Roy Munson in such work. In fact Lloyd had taken over much of the work his father had contracted and had planned to carry on this line of occupation in addition to his farm work. He was very efficient and very cautious, the tragedy of his demise being a distinct shock to the entire community. Those left to mourn his passing are his devoted wife, Elsie Mae, daughter, Mary Lea, age 9 and son, Eddie Lloyd, age 4; a sister, Ruby Householder of Hillsboro, Iowa and a step-mother, Marie Munson, who bestowed upon him the love of a mother, and two nephews, Buddie and Bobbie Householder, and an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Munson of Denver. Funeral Services The Mt. Pleasant Christian church was filled to overflowing by sorrowing relatives and friends who assembled there at 2 Saturday afternoon to pay their final earthly respects to Lloyd Munson. Rev. T. H. Toliver, pastor of the Macomb Assembly of God church and Rev. John Botkin pastor of the Mt. Pleasant church, officiated in the sad but impressive rites. The remains were laid to rest in St. Marys cemetery. Casket bearers were Henry Mayall, Elwood Corder, Lloyd Rampley, Gaylord Clayton, Henry VanBrooker and Chester Cochran. ELI MUNSON DIED TUESDAY Former County Resident Died In Los Angeles Home August Twenty-third. The community of Magnolia Park was saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Mary Virginia Munson on Tuesday, August 23 at 9:15 p. m. at her late residence, 2936 Illinois Ave., where she has been residing for the past three weeks. At the time of her death she was 69 years, 2 months and 28 days of age. Mrs. Munson had been under the doctor's care for the past year and a half, but her death came as a shock to her family, as she had retired for the night in her usual manner when she was shortly seized with a severe attack of heart trouble which ended her life within a half hour. Mary Virginia Munson was the daughter of James and Jemima Barbe. She was born in the state of Missouri May 25, 1858, and at the age of 6 years, they moved near Carthage, Illinois where she resided, and at the age of 20 years she was married to Eli D. Munson on January 1, 1879. To this union were born eight children, Elizabeth Jane, who passed away in the year of 1917; Emma Mae of Los Angeles, Calif.; Tylee Arthur of Fountain Green, Ill.; Thomas Ralph of Long Beach, Calif.; Artie L. Otis of Ft. Madison, Iowa; Wilferd Victor of LaHarpe, Ill.; Ethel Grace, who passed away it the age of 15 years, and Otis Ray, of Los Angeles, Calif. There are also ten grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her death one sister, Mrs. Susan Loggie of Los Angeles, Calif., and two brothers, Benjamin and William Barbe of Tennessee, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Munson lived their life in Illinois, until four years ago, when they came to California, and Mr. Munson was called back to Illinois on business. He has made frequent trips to California, and he arrived here to spend the last three weeks of mother’s life. The last year and a half Mrs. Munson has made her home with her son and wife, Otis and Frances where she has had the very best of care and medical treatments. Mrs. Munson was baptized and became a member of the Oak Grove Christian church in Illinois in the year of 1858, and has always lived a good Christian life. She was of a kindly nature and was highly esteemed by her family and a large circle of friends and she will be greatly missed by all. However from the cares of this mor- tal life she has found, Some humble door among the many mansions, Some sheltering shade where sin and striving cease, And flows forever through Heaven's green expansion, The River of thy peace. There from the music round about her stealing She fain would learn the new and holy song, And find at last, beneath the trees of healing The life for which she longs. The funeral services was conducted at the funeral home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Klinker at 1 o'clock on Friday, August 26, 1927, and burial was at Val Hala cemetery. Mrs. J. W. Wood and assistant sang very beautifully "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Safe In the Arms of Jesus." Otis and Frances.
