Type Pulaski in the search field, select IL for the state & click the search button. You will have 2 options; I clicked Hancock Co and Pulaski appeared on the map south and slightly east of Augusta. To enlarge the map & zoom in, click on settings at the top of map for "1:25,000" and "large." I also found Pulaski on the 1975 Hancock Co IL plat map of Augusta township.

    3. Posted on: Hancock County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Hancock/1247 Surname: ------------------------- I can sure understand why you couldn't find Pulaski. I keep a 1993-94 Illinois road map on my desk for quick reference and Pulaski is not shown on it. However, on my website I have an image of a map of Hancock County from the following two volume publication: Historical Encyclopedia of Illinois, edited by Newton Bateman, LL.D., Paul Selby, A. M., J. Seymour Currey, and History of Hancock County, edited by Charles J. Scofield, published by Munsell Publishing Company, Chicago, 1921. Pulaski is shown, just as Mary Jane indicated, in the far southeast corner of Hancock County, in Augusta Township. To reach my website, http:// to the following URL (take off the leading dot): / .freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~majorville/ Page down and click on the link for Hancock & McDonough Sites and Photos. On the page that comes up, the first selection is this map. Due to the detail it is a large image and may take a few seconds to load, depending on the speed of your modem. Also due to the size and detail, I couldn't make it as sharp an image as I would have liked, but Pulaski is visible in the lower right corner, south and east of Augusta (the town). 3. Posted on: Hancock County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Hancock/1236 Surname: Wristen, Riston ------------------------- Thank you for the Thomas Wristen-Nancy Fireman info from Hancock Co. IL. This clears up the Toseman, Foreman, Fireman question. I am following Elisha Riston, b. ca 1755, one of 9 known children of an unknown Riston, in Piscataway, Prince George's County, MD, who married Sarah Ann Mayoh in 1790. They made their way from Maryland to Virginia to Kentucky over 21 years, having 10 children along the way. Elisha was the father of Thomas Wriston, b. 13 Dec 1800, d. 28 Oct 1881, who married Hannah Boggess, Nancy Fireman and Mrs. Mary Eckles. John Henry Wristen was the son of Thomas and Hannah Boggess and he was the one who moved to Hancock Co. IL and his son was John Marshall Wristen. You probably have all that. I am following Elijah Wristen, Thomas's brother, who went on to Texas, and his son, Daniel, and have no more on Thomas. See the Wristen Message Board for a message by Cecil Wristen, 28 Sept 2000, who is following Thomas and Wristens in Illinois. Thanks again, Sophie Fisher

    3. Posted on: Hancock County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Hancock/1230 Surname: ------------------------- The following was found on page 304 of "History of Hancock Co., IL" pub. 1968 "Webster was platted for William Wightman by the county surveyor, John Johnston, in May, 1840. It was a Mormon town and was first known as Ramus. On March 3, 1843 the Illinois Legislature passed an act incorporating the town of Macedonia. Seven trustees were to be elected, annually, to govern the town. The town before the exodus of the Mormons, grew to have a population of six hundred. In 1845 it was the third largest town in Hancock Co. After the Mormons left, the name of the town was changed to Webster." Note, the town of Webster is in Fountain Green Township, Hancock Co. IL.

    3. Hi, Ramus was about 20 miles east-south of Nauvoo and northeast of Carthage about eight or nine miles. If you find LaHarpe on todays map, it would be almost directly south, down by Carthage. Ramus was a Mormon settlement.
