I am sorry I meant for that to go to Roberta. Please forgive me for sending that to the list. I guess you all know how vulnerable I am. I am so glad I have the cemetery records to keep myself busy. I hope you all got the updates on all the new cemeteries I have finished. Love and thanks to all. Shawnnee
Hi Roberta, I have his picture on this website http://www.jrsenterprizes.com/travis.html If you click on the link you can see him. How did you deal with your daughter missing. I have been going nuts and putting the cemetery records on the Hancock County website to keep my mind occupied and try not to think about it. I had to wait until my son and his wife sent me a new picture of him so I could scan it in and put it on the website. I try not to think about it too much then I cry.I feel like I am going crazy. HI All, I hope you will all forgive me for doing this to you but my grandson is missing and I am desperate. I am sending out this information where ever and how ever I can. Please go to this website I left my Hotmail email address on the website just in case I get a bunch of email. it is [email protected] http://www.jrsenterprizes.com/travis.html
Hi, Seekers! Some of you may have already seen this elsewhere, but I haven't seen it on the ILHancock List/Digest yet so am just sharing. It came to me from another mailing list I am on and I think it is a terrific thing. I am sure you are all like me and have spent hundreds of hours (and money!) gathering information. It would be a shame to see it lost in the next generation: most likely tossed out in the trash can or burned up - as some survivors are want to do when cleaning out loved ones' possession. Hope it does some good. Shirley: [email protected] Genealogical Codicil to My Last Will and Testament To my spouse, children, guardian, administrator and/or executor: Upon my demise it is requested that you DO NOT dispose of any or all of my genealogical records, both those prepared personally by me and those records prepared by others which may be in my possession, including but not limited to books, files, notebooks or computer programs for a period of two years. During this time period, please attempt to identify one or more persons who would be willing to take custody of the said materials and the responsibility of maintaining and continuing the family histories. [If you know whom within your family or friends are likely candidates to accept these materials, please add the following at this point: "I suggest that the persons contacted regarding the assumption of the custody of these items include but not be limited to" and then list the names of those individuals at this point, with their addresses and telephone numbers if known.] In the event you do no find anyone to accept these materials, please contact the various genealogical organizations that I have been a member of and determine if they will accept some parts or all of my genealogical materials. [List of organizations, addresses and phone numbers at bottom; include local chapters, with their addresses, phone numbers and contact persons if available as well as state/national contact information and addresses] Further, I request that immediate efforts be made by my family to identify one or more persons or institutions who would have knowledge of AND be willing to take custody of such materials and assume the responsibility of maintaining and perhaps continuing the family histories and research. Please remember that my genealogical endeavors consumed a great deal of time, travel, and money. Therefore it is my desire that the products of these endeavors be allowed to continue in a manner that will make them available to others in the future. Hi Everyone, Just wanted to let you know I got my book. It turned up at my sons house. I don't know why the Historical Society told me they sent it to a different address. Am eager now to get home and read it. Thanks to all who answered my concerns about it. Roberta Summers

He was in Pontoonsuc Twp. in both the 1870 and 1880 census. He died Sept 1900 but I am not sure where so I am trying to find him in the census. Thanks. Carolyn

Hi Chet, I have e-mailed them and if I don't hear back this morning will call. if they didn't send it to my son will call the post office and see if they can help. I live in a small town so that might be in my favor. I know where Champaign is since I am from Lomax, IL and now live in Colorado with winters being spent in South Texas. Take care. Roberta
Roberta, I live in Champaign, IL, west side of State. Hey, the worst case scenario is that the post office would decide item is undeliverable and it would be returned to sender. Maybe an email or letter to the Historical Society alerting them to mail problem wouldn't hurt. Chet
Hi, Seekers! According to: http://www.pbs.org/pov/pov2001/thesweetestsound/popularityindex.html your surname (among 55,000) may be listed in order of popularity among the U.S. population. Shirley: [email protected]
Hi Chet, I really hope you are right. Would hate to lose that much money. Where do you live? Roberta Summers
Thanks Mary, I was afraid of that. Now it looks like we may be going home early but not soon enough for the book. Roberta Summers
I received my copy today. Mailman brought it to door. In the past if not at home, the mail is returned to the post office and note is left to pick up. They won't throw it away. Chet
All the books were mailed last Friday, the 20th..... I helped so I know!!! ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, February 23, 2004 11:22 AM Subject: [ILHANCOC] New books Does anyone know rather or not the new books have been mailed? Am really concerned about mine since I'm not at home to receive it and I am not sure the post office will forward it and I won't be home until the last of March. They will start holding my mail the 15th. so hopefully it wont arrive before then. I didn't think they would be mailing them until sometime in March. Thanks. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Eg.2ADI/2141 Message Board Post: My great-great grandfather Alexander Martin came from Ohio to Hancock Co. in the early 1830's. In 1839 he married Mary Ann Martin in Hancock Co. 1939. By the 1840's they are in Lee Co. Iowa. My questions is this-somewhere along the line I find a daughter named Becky Ann, born in Ohio 1831 or 1832. So either Alexander had a child from previous marriage or Mary Ann did. I know next to nothing before their marriage. I realize Becky Ann could be tag along relative also but for the sake of this lets assume she a daughter. Now if Alexander's first wife had died in Hancock Co. and I don't know her name-where might I check? I'm thinking if I find her I can help find a few more pieces to this huge puzzle. I can't find anything linking Alexander to the military. He was Irish and Mary Ann Martin was Scottish.
