    3. RE: Looking for details of this record. The Illinois State Database Archives show it as Oct. 13, 1870 for Hancock Co. Are there any other details on this available(parent's names, witnesses, etc)? without going to IRAD or other sources. =-=-= It wasn't until 1877 that the State of Illinois implemented the use of a Board of Health document which included the parents' names (the mothers' maiden names), as well as other helpful information such as the bride's and groom's places of birth, their ages as of their next birthdays, the groom's occupation, the location of their current residences and the number of the marriage (e.g., the groom's first marriage). And it took a while before all the County Clerks began to religiously make sure it was prepared for each marrying couple. Prior to 1877, if either the groom or the bride was under 21 or 18, respectively, you will sometimes find a handwritten note or affidavit accompanying the license, authorized by one or both of the fathers (if living) or another male relative. I think only one time have I seen approval granted by the mother of a bride. Otherwise, IRAD will --probably-- have only a marriage license with the bride's and groom's names, no witnesses. Your best bet would be to try to find your bride and groom in census records and piece it together that way. Marcia Farina

    3. It's difficult to tell you how to find the Zeh Cemetery. It is directly across the Mississippi R. from Ft. Madison. It is on top a a very high hill. There is no road to get there. We had to explore the area to find it. There are homes along the road there where you can stop and ask. It is near Pontoosuc, but when I stopped at a bar that was open, they didn't know where it was--and they had lived there a long time. I'm wondering if people don't want anyone to know where it is. 3. Nope, I've made two trips up to Zeh in the past two years. A lot of my JONES ancestors are buried up there. Not an easy access. We stopped at a couple of homes in the area when we were trying to find the cemetery. One man said that he and the Zeh kids used to play up there on top of the hill. It's a neat place. When you step inside in the summer time, it's very dark and makes you feel as though you were in a cathedral. Someone cleared an area next to the cemetery and they were going to put a mobile home there. I don't know just why that didn't happen. But, it makes it much easier to access. Julie I may be wrong but I thought the Zeh cemetery was more up around Dallas City??? More precisely Baker's Beach is just north of the dam, maybe 1/2 mile from the bridge. The cabins are all gone now but you ought to see the mansion of a house that someone is building at the north edge of that property! 3. Hancock Co. Historical Soc. Told someone looking for Zeh Cemetery that it was flooded and gone. Perhaps they were talking about this cemetery. Zeh Cemetery is at the top of a bluff overlooking the Miss. River, and if it flooded, there wouldn't be anything in the area at all! Hi Cheri, Yes there was a cemetery that was flooded by the Dam when it was built in 1903 I believe it was around Bakers Beach if you know where that was. Shawnnee

    3. I will be getting back to transcribing the cemeteries in a couple more days. My oldest son has been here and now my youngest son is staying with us since the company he works for sent him to Placerville to work for a couple of weeks. Now he is going to work with his dad since they both work for the same company. Shawnnee

    3. That could be. I have been trying to locate the Zeh cemetery too. I am sure that more than one cemetery was flodded because the Dam caused floods from Warsaw to north of Sonora. Bakers Beach is in Hamilton just as you get to the bridge to go to Keokuk. I have found maps of the town in one of the county histories but it does not mention a cemetery. Anybody know? Mary

    3. Does anyone have or know where to look for a list of the members of the former Wythe Congregational Church? It has been closed for many years but was on Rt. 96 south of the Warsaw Y. Also the building has been gone "forever". What sorts of things does the Warsaw Historical Society have? I've never been there and am wondering. Mary

    3. I received this from another list....a CA list. If you have submitted a family tree to Ancestry.com, you might want to know of the change about to be implemented by them. The Family Trees that have been donated to Ancestry for free distribution to other researchers are about to be sold by subscription: the OneWorldTree Preview cost will be $49.95 for 14 months. If you'd prefer that your information was not sold, there is a link below which will take you to a set of instructions on opting out by deleting your tree. After clicking on the link and arriving at the page, click on "What's a preview?" near the top of the page. Read thoroughly and then click on "View our checklist" (which appears on #3). Among other things, you will see the following sentence: "If for any reason you do not want your tree to be part of the new OneWorldTree service, you must delete it from the Ancestry World Tree database by tentatively May 21, 2004." This is the link: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/trees/owt/
