    3. Hi: Thank you for answering. State Census Records were enumerated in 1810, 1820, 1830, 1835, 1840, 1845, 1855 & 1865 and many are available. Certainly many State Census for the middle years do exist and are referenced at Ancestry.com.and at Family History Centers. You will also find many references using Google. My question was mean't to ask if the 1845 for Hancock County existed and was available to anyone on the list. rod and vicki reynolds wrote: > Hi, > I hope this helps to tell you that they only took a census every ten years > and so, it would be the 1840 or 1850 census you would be looking for. > Regards, > Vicki > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Carol Gelette" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Sunday, July 18, 2004 6:20 PM > Subject: [ILHANCOC] Hancock County 1845 > > > >>Could someone let me know if there is an 1845 census for Hancock County. >>I am still lokking for my Montreville Gillett born Warsaw,HC 1844. >>Nowhere to be found in 1850. 2. If you decide to write for and obit write the Genealogical Society in Burlington Iowa. It probably was in the Burlington Hawkeye Paper. They charge a fee to help but I don't remember what it was. Seems like $10.00. Good Luck. Roberta Summers

    2. Hi, I can't help you with Floyd Edward Klossing obit but I do have this article I thought you might find interesting. 1. Cemetery access
    2. Robert L Webb
    3. Hi, Yesterday I examined and took two digital photos of the bridge across Middle Creek near the Old Brick cemetery. There are 7 steel beams set in cement abutments, and they all appear to be sound. The floor of the bridge is made of planks which appear to be about 4 inches thick. I'm less concerned now about crossing the bridge with a car. I'm not sure what the posted weight would be if that has been determined or could be determined. The present trail from the bridge to the cemetery is on private property. There was a road at one time going past the cemetery on the east end. I plan to inquire further regarding title on township roads and right-of-ways, which are typically 40' wide. If a township road was ever legally vacated, the private landowner would then have to pay taxes on the strip of land, or maybe already did pay taxes on it? I'm not sure. In 1927 an article in the Carthage paper indicated that a blueprint of the lots in this cemetery existed. The names of the trustees of the cemetery at that time are also named. I haven't been able to find this blueprint and would welcome any clues. So far it appears there may be at least 300, possibly 350-400 burials. Sincerely, Robert ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Surf the Web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER! There is a sign, however, after you leave the highway it is a bit tricky as when you go around a curve and up a hill you see another sign for the cemetery at a farm entrance. This is where you need to turn--into the farm yard-- and then drive or walk a few yards back into the farmer's pasture to a nice cemetery. It's really a nice setting and well taken care of. Good luck!
