    1. [ILHAMILT-L] re: 1850 census for Tabitha Bond
    2. I meant to send this back to the list in case anyone else was interested, somehow I didn't. Following my reply is part of the original message from Gail. Gail, You skipped one person in Tabitha's household in the 1850 census, her son-in-law William Reeder. He and his family were living with Tabitha (not the other way around, she was listed as head of household). Moses Bond was Tabitha's son. Except for Lucy, the other children were those of William and Sarah (Bond) Reeder. Lucy may have also been the daughter of Sarah and William, her age 7 rather than 17 as it seemed to be in the census. Sarah (Bond) Reeder, daughter of Mastin and Tabitha, died, according to the 1860 census mortality schedule, by June of 1860 of typhoid fever, as did her daughter, Tabitha. Sarah's stone in Blooming Grove Cemetery gives her death as 1859. William Reeder married again and fathered more children. He can be found in the 1860 federal census of White County, Illinois. I didn't track him any farther than that. It appears Tabitha (Ward) Bond, widow of Mastin Bond, died after October, 1853, when, according to a history of Blooming Grove Church by Doris Trotter, Tabitha Bond donated $2.00 toward the cost of a new church building. Might I also add for those on the list, Lucy was not a daughter of Mastin and Tabitha Bond as some have reported. She did not appear as an heir in the distributation of Mastin's estate (1847/1848) , nor on the deeds for the sale of his real estate (1851/1853). NOW, in the 1850 Hamilton County Census I find the following: Mastin Bond - not listed, he died in 1847 Tabitha Bond age 58 b. abt 1792 - this is OK (children - please note the great difference) Moses age 16 (birthdate would be abt 1834) Sarah A. 14 1836 Lucy J 17 1833 Tabitha E. 5 1845 Elizabeth 4 1846 Samuel R. 2 1848 John M. 1 1849 Once in awhile I notice an unexplained difference in ages - but I have been told that even a neighbor could have given out the information in absence of homeowner - and been wrong. But ALL of these kids are way off - yet the parents ages are OK. Any input on this dilema? Gail
