I am researching the following families of Hamilton County IL: Clark, Hungate, Cullins, Freeman. My line is from Jacob C. Clark who married Kassey (maiden name unknown) via their son Abraham Meadow Clark who married Hannah Jane Hungate. Via their son William Lewis Clark (b: abt 1855) who married Letta Florence Cullins (b: abt 1861, d/o of John Cullins and Mary Hungate). As you can see I have the Hungate line twice in my tree. The Clark family was very abundant in Hamilton and Franklin counties (neighboring counties) and many cousins were neighbors which makes sorting them all out quite difficult. I think I have a pretty good handle on the Clark and Hungate lines but could always use input. My biggest brick wall is figuring out when my GG Grandparents William Lewis Clark and his wife Florence, nee Cullins died and where they are buried. They apparently died sometime before the 1900 census. I have them in the 1880 census, newlyweds, with a one year old daughter Ada Clark. The 1890 census burned as we all know and, by the 1900 census William and Florence Clark are deceased leaving (at least) six young children orphaned....may be more children but I have not found them. I purchased the book Legacy of Kin as recommended but no William and Florence or Letta Florence Clark are noted.......go figure. Any other suggestions? I am close enough to drive to Hamilton County (about an hour and a half) but I would not know where to begin to search for death dates and burial place of persons prior to 1900. I need some direction. any suggestions? Tina Mitchell TinaBopperM@msn.com
