Hi all, I am working on the Hamilton County Fields family, which seems to descend from the Enfield family headed by Joshua Fields 1770-1822 and his wife Jane, whose surname might have been Cameron. One family I cannot match is that of a James Fields and Mary Green, who were supposedly married in Hamilton county about 1889, and had several children, including a Bernard and a Patrick. They are buried at Garrison Cemetery, which I think is in Crouch Township. James was born about 1866 and died in 1925, but his obit does not appear in the Legacy of Kin. His wife Mary was born 1871 and died 1959, and is listed in the Felty book, but does not have information about her in-laws. I am also trying to connect a James Jamerson who married a Fields lady in 1893, also in Hamilton County. I think he is part of the White County Jamersons but will have to make a trip or pay a researcher if no one else is studying these lines. Any info appreciated. Cindy Birk Conley Carmi, IL
Is your Mary GREEN, who maried James FIELDS, the daughter of William Richmond GREEN and Sarah Margaret BEARD? I have a Christopher Columbus JAMERSON, married unknown, who was the father of James JAMERSON, born c1874. The family is listed on the 1880 census as living in McLeansboro. James' mother (the FIELDS?) must have died as his father remarried Jemimah TRAMMEL. Melinda, The names on the marriage license for Mary C. Green's parents are Richman Green and Martha Beard, so I think they are the same folks. There are several Jamersons in White and Hamilton counties, and all of them wanted to name their children James and William. Looking at that marriage license which a cousin got for me today the parents of J.E. Jamerson are listed as W.L. Jamerson and Lisa E. Davis, and when I compared them to my previous research I realized I had a Willard Leander Jamerson married to a Eliza Ellen Davis, and this fits. My cousin had a rough time at the McLeansboro courthouse today. Yes, they were nice to her, but she had to stand at the counter and hand copy names out of the index, and then pay $1 per page to have them copy the actual licenses without even knowing if those were the ones for her family. She is recovering from chemo and says she won't go back. All the marriages through 1870 have been published, and its not like someone is going to steal the identity of people married in 1889 and 1894. Thanks for everyone's help. I have learned a lot more than the licenses can provide.
