William "Bill" Harrison Adams, 89, of McLeansboro, passed away 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin. He was born May 13, 1922, in Franklin County, the son of Benjamin Harrison Adams and Nora Edith Brake. He married Helen Gene (Lowery) Adams on Dec. 17, 1973 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2004. He is survived by son, William Leslie Adams and wife Rose of Benton; stepsons, Steve Huggins and wife Pam of Branson, Mo. and Greg Huggins and wife Robyn of McLeansboro; stepdaughters, Debra Campbell and husband Gary of McLeansboro and Denita Reed and husband Bill of McLeansboro; sister, Mary Metheney of Benson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Lee Adams and wife Joyce of Dahlgren, Brian Adams of Dahlgren and Annette Farthing of McLeansboro; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Hunter Adams and Dakota and Alexandria Farthing; 12 stepgrandchildren; and 26 great-stepgrandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. And his best pal, Teddy his dog. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one infant son; sisters, Lorena Williams, Beulah Tate and one infant sister, Francis; and one nephew. He was a retired truck driver and mechanic and also a driver for Harre Ambulance Service for several years. He was a Southern Baptist minister at First Baptist Church of Lake Josephine in Sebring, Fla. and a member of the First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro. He was in the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of Polk Lodge 137 A.F. and A.M, Scottish Rites Bodies and Hadi Shrine Temple in Evansville, Ind. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10. at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Ken Cook officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today with Masonic services at 7 p.m. at Harre Funeral Home. Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of all arrangements.
