James W. "Jim" Adams 90-year-old McLeansboro resident, James W. "Jimmy" Adams died at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He had been a florist. He purchased Adams Greenhouse from his father in 1949 and remained the owner and operator until his retirement in 1985. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WW II. Survivors include two daughters, Jan Ellyn Belva of Mt. Vernon and Wendy Adams of The Colony, TX; two sons, Stan Adams of McLeansboro and Kendall Adams of Broken Arrow, OK; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service for James W. "Jimmy" Adams will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 15 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with burial in the IOOF Cemetery at McLeansboro with military rites performed by the American Legion Post No. 106. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Memorials may be made to the McCoy Library, Hamilton County Historical Society or the Hamilton Memorial Hospital Foundation and will be accepted at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro
