Helen "Jean" V. Mangis, 89, of DeLand, Fla., died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Florida Hospital DeLand. She was born Nov. 6, 1922, in McLeansboro to Virgil and Hazel (Bright) Leslie. Jean is survived by her sister-in-law, Jean Leslie of McLeansboro; her nieces and nephews, Joni Schneider (husband Bob) of Avon, Conn., Bo Leslie (wife Betty) of Dade City, Fla., Jay Leslie (wife Tina) of Washington, Mo., Susan Daily Hardwick (husband Kelly) of Bartow, Fla., and Whitson Leslie Daily (wife Cathy) of Champaign; and several great- and great-great nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill E. Mangis; her son, Robert L. Mangis; her sister, Juanita Leslie Daily; and her brothers, Max Leslie and Billie Joe Leslie. Services were held March 22 in DeLand, Fla. Interment was at DeLand Memorial Gardens.
