Bob J. Uhls, 80, of Pretty Pond Assisted Living in Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Centralia and Carbondale, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, Mar. 7, 2012. He was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Hamilton County, a son of Roy and Josephine Uhls. On Jan. 14, 1956, he was united in marriage with Shirley A. Kline, who survives; they were married for 56 years. Bob worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for 31 years as a clerical clerk. He joined the National Guard in West Frankfort after World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Don Uhls. Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley; one son, Scott L. Uhls Sr. and wife, Aleta of Dahlgren; four grandchildren, Scott L. Uhls Jr. and wife, Christy, Avery G. Sprehe and wife, Candy, Jason D. Sprehe and wife, Amber, and Aaron W. Uhls at home; three great-grandchildren, Kierston and Hailey Uhls and Jesse Manning.
