    3. William J. "Bill" Barnes, 87, Macedonia, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion. Mr. Barnes was a farmer. He was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Gifford, the son of Roy Stanley and Gertrude (Wooldridge) Barnes. Bill and Roberta (Finley) Barnes were married April 24, 2004, in West Frankfort; she survives. A memorial service was held Tuesday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with Dave Pitzer speaking. Military rites were accorded by American Legion Post 106, McLeansboro. Mr. Barnes selflessly donated his body to science; private family services will be conducted at a later date. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Tucker of Rantoul and Kathleen Treat of Dallas; one son, Jim Barnes of Champaign; one stepdaughter, Donna Kraniewski and husband Rick of Marion; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bill was a member of Akin Baptist Church. He collected and restored old vehicles, and he loved going to thresher reunions. He loved ALL animals. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruth Ann; and an infant daughter, Debbie. Memorials may be made to Hamilton County Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
