Sister Anastasia Rubenacker, ASC, 81, of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ Ruma Center, Ruma, born Sept. 22, 1930, in Piopolis, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at the Community's Center in Ruma. Sister Rubenacker made her first vows as an Adorer of the Blood of Christ on July 1, 1947, and final profession on July 1, 1952. Sister Anastasia taught in many schools in the Belleville area, she did prison ministry at Menard Correctional Center and she also provided different pastoral care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Elizabeth (Herzing) Rubenacker, and brother and sister-in-law Linus "Buck" and Linda Rubenacker. Surviving are her nieces, Debbie Rubenacker, Tammy Bowman, Paula Jackson and Kris Taylor; seven great-nephews; two great-nieces; one great-great-niece; and cousins, community members, friends and former students. Sister Anastasia requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Maria DeMattias Education Institute in Guatemala, 4233 Sulphur Ave., St. Louis, MO, 63109, or online at www.adorers.org, "Support Our Ministries." Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 16, and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Ruma Center Chapel, Ruma. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
