Lincoln L. Wheeler, 84, of Dale, passed away at 4:23 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at McLeansboro Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Feb. 18, 1928, in Hamilton County, to John W. (Hub) Wheeler and Anna (Hutcheson) Wheeler. He married Norma Sue Smith, who preceded him in death. He was a retired oil field driller, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Dale Christian Church. He is survived by sons Roger Wheeler and wife Patricia of Enfield and Alan Wheeler and wife Lisa of McLeansboro; he also helped raise Ronald Neal of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; stepdaughter, Susan Ruth Wheeler of McLeansboro; and sister Linda Pressy and husband Jim of Dale. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and one brother, Harold Dean Wheeler. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Interment will follow at Digby Hill Cemetery in Dale with graveside military rites by the McLeansboro American Legion Post #106. Services are in the care of Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
