Anson “Jack” James (AJ), a World War II combat Navy veteran, Air Force Korean War veteran and retired special projects manager at Lockheed Martin, passed away Feb. 18, 2012, at the veterans nursing home in Quincy; he was 86. Jack was born Jan. 5, 1926, a native of Texas, and he was a longtime resident of McLeansboro. He was married for 63 years to Lee Ann (Donelson) James; Lee Ann was the daughter of Leslie “Lee” and Lelia Donelson of McLeansboro. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Russell James and Gloverine (Southerland) Cromleigh; his wife, Lee Ann James; his grandson Jonathan Terry James; brother Gene Oman James; brother Raymond Wayne James; and his father-in-law, Leslie “Lee” Donelson. Jack is survived by his sister, Donnie Glenna (James) Little of Richardson, Texas; son Terry Jack James of Weatherford, Texas; his daughter, Debra Lee (James) Thompson of San Antonio; three grandsons, Jason Terry James, Jeferson Terry James and U.S. Army 2nd Lt. James Westley Thompson, all of Texas; a granddaughter, Amy Annalyce (James) Hayden of Texas, and three great-grandsons, Mikal Deetz James, Riley Vincent James and Jonathan Thomas Hayden, all of Texas; four sisters-in-law, Daphne “Doc” (Donelson) Drake, Marilyn (Donelson) James, Clara Nell (Donelson) Dillinger and Katherine (Donelson) Lakin; three brothers-in-law, Donald “Donnie” Leslie Donelson, Robert “Bob” Dillinger and Robert “Bob” Little; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial with full military honors will be held for Jack in Fort Worth, Texas, at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8235 at 5333 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, TX, 76114 (phone number (817) 731-8231) at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The family requests that persons wishing to send flowers or cards instead send a donation to their preferred charity.
