Mildred Lucille Pulliam, 97, of Mission Viejo, Calif., beloved relative, died at 12:50 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012. She died peacefully at home following complications from a respiratory infection. She was born July 16, 1914, in Hamilton County, to George and Ercel Pulliam. Mildred’s brothers, Gilford and William, preceded her in death. She is survived by three nephews, two nieces and their respective families. During the depression, Mildred and her siblings were raised by their maternal grandparents. At age 16, St. Louis was her home and place of employment until she moved to Las Vegas in 1953. She moved to Southern California in 1971. Mildred remained unmarried, but enjoyed an abundance of close relatives all of her life. Family genealogy and politics were Mildred’s main interests, beginning in the 1950s, by which she gained recognition for her expertise and accomplishments in both arenas. Her membership and participation in patriotic organizations at local, state and national levels, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, gained many friends and contacts with distant relatives. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Hickory Hill Baptist Church near Broughton. The Rev. Robert Sefried will officiate. Burial will be at Hickory Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. Saturday until the service time at the church. The Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro is in charge of the arrangements
Moved by your notice of the passing of 97 year old Mildred Pulliam of Mission Viejo, CA. She was a great lady, and a friend to all genealogists. She was a special help to me when I was compiling my 600 page "Early Johnson's of Hamilton County, Illinois." Her storehouse of knowledge about Hamilton Co., IL families was unreal, especially since she had been gone from there since 1953. We will miss her. Rev. James William Dupree, Americus, Georgia. -----Original Message----- From: BLS Sent: Friday, May 18, 2012 9:37 AM To: Hamilton County Subject: [ILHAMILT] PULLIAM OBIT Mildred Lucille Pulliam, 97, of Mission Viejo, Calif., beloved relative, died at 12:50 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012.
