Dale Rhine, 79, of Godfrey, died at 10:25 a.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born Aug. 8, 1932, in Walpole, he was the son of Clydus and Mamie (Cook) Rhine. Dale retired as chief engineer at Alton Mental Health Center after 38 years of service. He also worked for Rolling Hills Golf Course and Fairmount Park Racetrack and loved to play golf and poker. On April 26, 1952, in Morganfield, Ky., he married the former Alta Faires. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Louis Pattan of Godfrey, and two grandchildren, Lindsay Pattan and Lauren Pattan (James Rogalsky). He was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Dorothy Rhine and Roy and Thyda Rhine, and an infant sister, Sarah Rhine. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Tim Lemmon will officiate.
