Versil E. Withrow 65-year-old former Wayne County resident, Versil E. Withrow died Friday, July 13 at his home near Ava, MO. He farmed and raised cattle and horses on the family farm while teaching in the Wayne City School District for 30 years, working part of that time for Southern Illinois University. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; two sons, Shannon Withrow of Sims and Shane Withrow of Long Beach, CA; a daugherr, Sharna Rawls of Belle Rive, IL; two sisters, Verona Highsmith of Burkburnett, TX and Valerie Cole of Ava, MO; a brother, Elmore Withrow of Sims; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services for Versil E. Withrow will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19 at the Arrington Prairie Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 18 at the Orchardville Community Church in Orchardville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arrington Prairie Missionary Baptist Church for the construction of a pavilion for the cemetery.
