In Journal Star of Peoria, Illinois on July 28, 2012 (photo included) BETTY VAUGHN *BARTONVILLE *- Betty A. Vaughn, 81, of Bartonville, Ill., passed away at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, at her residence. She was born Feb. 11, 1931, in Ina, Ill., the daughter of Ervie and Vona (Rhynes) Beckman. Betty married Elmer C. Vaughn on May 20, 1950, in McLeansboro, Ill. He survives, along with four sons, Randal Vaughn of Junction City, Terry Vaughn of Peoria, Dustan (April) Vaughn of Macomb and Troy (Jackie) Vaughn of Paris, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Kent, Jaclyn, Terry Jr., Zane, Emily and Darby; six great-grandchildren, Bailey, Emma, Aidan, Moira, James and Dakota; one brother, Maurice (Janet) Beckman of Salem, Ill.; and two sisters, Louise Vaughn of Roanoke and Jo Raunthenberger of East Peoria. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, William and Stanley Beckman; and one sister, Kay Ford. Betty was active as a den mother in Cub Scouts for 10 years and served as a room mother for her sons during grade school. She enjoyed cooking, baking, camping at Leisure Oaks Park, crafting, quilting and crocheting. She was a very caring and sharing person. Visitation will be Sunday, July 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Bartonville, where the service will be Monday, July 30, at 11 a.m. Terry Vaughn Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Diabetes Foundation, Methodist Hospice or Bartonville Fire Department.
