Thomas A. “Tommy” Barker, 62, of Broughton, died 11:09 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at his home. He was born Nov. 15, 1949, in Eldorado, the son of Reese and Mary (Irvin) Barker. He married Tamara Denton; who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Thomas E. Barker and wife Tina of Broughton; his daughters, Lisa Blackford of Chandler, Ind., Sara Roth and husband Keith of Booneville, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Megan Lehman and husband Jacob of Chandler, Ind.; a brother, Robert David Barker of Manteno; a sister, Delores Kay Kaufman and husband Charles of Belle Rive; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bonita Barker; a sister-in-law, Rita Barker; a nephew, Robert David Barker Jr.; and his ex-wives, Judy and Juanita. Mr. Barker was retired from Indiana Bell Telephone Company after 27 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling stories to his many friends. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will be at Hickory Hill Cemetery, Broughton, with graveside military rites accorded by American Legion Post 106 of McLeansboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
