Ralph G. Lockwood, 76, of McLeansboro, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at McLeansboro Health Care Center.He was born in Macedonia on June 5, 1933, a son of Riley and Gladys (Mezo) Lockwood. He married Shirley Ann Poynor on Sept. 5, 1953, and she preceded him in death. He retired after 30 years as a miller for J.R. Short Milling in Kankakee. Mr. Lockwood was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Andy May officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery near Macedonia with graveside military rites by the American Legion Post 106.Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.Mr. Lockwood is survived by two daughters, Sheila Ames of Shawneetown and Vickie LaGesse and husband Curtis of McLeansboro; four grandchildren, Stephanie Joachim and husband Frank of Joliet, Corey Ames of Joliet, Justin LaGesse of McLeansboro and Natasha LaGesse of McLeansboro; one great-grandchild, Paige Lynn Joachim of Joliet; and a sister, Adelene Warren and husband Max of McLeansboro.He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Shirley Ann Lockwood.For further information, you may call Gholson Funeral Home at 643-2321.
