    3. James "Jim" Rost, 63, of Belle City, passed away at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion. He was born in McLeansboro on Aug. 5, 1946, a son of Benjamin Eugene and Appelona Eve (Zachman) Rost. He was a store owner and operated Rost Package Store in Belle City.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis with Monsignor Joseph Lawler officiating. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery in Piopolis.Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.Jim is survived by three sisters, Ruth Furdek of Crest Hill, Marian Schuster of Piopolis and Doris Smith of McLeansboro; two brothers, Bill Rost and wife Sandy of Belle City and Benjamin "Pike" Rost of Camden, S.C.; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Eugene "Sunny," Charlie and Richard Rost.Jim was an avid fisherman, a member of Eagles Aeries 2599 in McLeansboro, American Legion Post 106 in McLeansboro, Elks Lodge 1882 in McLeansboro and the Bass World Sports Tournament Association. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis.For those who wish, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society local chapter and will be accepted at Harre Funeral Home.Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of all arrangements.
