Donate Now Don LeRoy French, 64, of Kell died at 8:43 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.He was a fabricator and welder.He was born July 26, 1945, in McLeansboro, to Don French and Emma Johnson. Both preceded him in death.Mr. French married Marilyn Jean St. Clair on April 4, 1970, in McLeansboro, and she survives in Kell.Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Monday at Zion Grove (County Line) Cemetery, with Jonathan Schnautz officiating. Graveside military rites will be provided by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon.In addition to his parents, Mr. French was preceded in death by twin granddaughters, Mackenzy and Makayla French. In addition to his wife, he is survived by mother-in-law Helen Mae St. Clair and friend Jim Flanigan of McLeansboro; sons Don "Curtis" French and wife Monica of Hoffman and Chad Anthony French of Kell; grandchildren Gregory, Austin, Dylan, Bryanna and Alayna French; brother Harold French and wife Marjorie of Port Byron; sisters-in-law Norma O'Connell of Springfield, Darlene Prior of Kell and Carolyn Littrell and husband Bob of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; sisters Dolores Young of McLeansboro, Shirley Hollister of Port Byron, Barbara Childers and husband Don of Mt. Vernon and Carolyn Daniels and husband Gary of McLeansboro; along with 23 nieces and nephews.Mr. French attended McLeansboro High School and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and was of the Baptist faith.
