Barbara Jean Johnson, 64, of Belle Rive, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.She was born in Hamilton County on July 9, 1945, a daughter of Charles and Frieda (Erkman) Gunter. She married David L. Johnson on July 28, 1963, and he survives. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and was a homemaker.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dahlgren Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Sefried, Billy Duncan and Chuck McCormick officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, south of Dahlgren.Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the church.In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her mother, Frieda Gunter of McLeansboro; a son, David G. Johnson and friend Paula Burris and her daughter Brooke of McLeansboro; daughters, Lori L. Peterson and husband Scott of Belle Rive and Crystal Cisco of McLeansboro; seven grandchildren, Cody, Holly and Lexi Johnson, Harlie Peterson, Blake Johnson, Kaylen Sweetin and Emmilia Cisco; three step-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Edward Gunter and wife Alice of Eldorado, Donald Gunter and wife Shirley of McLeansboro, Dan Gunter and wife Rita of Springerton, Fred Gunter of McLeansboro, David Gunter and wife Jeana of McLeansboro, Janet Vedeto and husband Larry of McLeansboro and Ruby Everett and husband Charles of McLeansboro; and a son-in-law, Ronald L. Cisco of Taylorville. She also leaves many friends and relatives and her pet dog, Nataleigh.She was preceded in death by her father Charles Gunter; a grandson, Derrick Chad; and her father- and mother-in-law, Henry and Louise Johnson.Barbara was a member of Dahlgren Baptist Church.Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren is in charge of arrangements.
