    3. Helen found some possible connections.... -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [ILWAYNE] [Fwd: MARY ANN COMMEAN] mystery grave marker Date: Thu, 2 Jul 2009 21:31:37 -0400 From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> CC: Wayne Co., IL <[email protected]> References: <[email protected]> Sorry, I hit the send too soon--- found the following on ancestry-- 1. Risden Commean-- residence-- Mulkeytown, IL (this is in Franklin CO) enlisted in Company F, Apr 10, 1862, mustered out June 1, 1862, private-- he survived the war, it also says his enlistment date is May 2, 1862 Another entry on Risden states he enlisted on Feb 5, 1862 as a private, company F, IL 63 Inf., then states he enlisted April 10, 1862, mustered out on June 1, 1862. 2. 1850 census of Perry CO., IL, 884/880 Elam Silkwood 47 farmer VA Christianna Silkwood 31 Germany Elizabeth Silkwood 22 William M. Silkwood 18 Nathan Silkwood 13 Narcissa Silkwood 11 Levi Comein 10 Risden Comein 8 Elam Silkwood 4 Margaret Silkwood 1 (all others b. in IL) Levi is on the 1880 census of Perry CO with a wife, Kensada, children Alice, Alfred, Elmer, and Ethel. 3. I did find a few Commeans-- Alfred, Elmer and Levi who married in Perry CO., IL-- but not a Mary Ann. There is a John Commean who married a Maryiby Johnson in 1837 in St. Clair CO., IL. Ancestry has a John Commeen married to Mary Fritz on Jul 8, 1848 in St. Clair CO., IL. Possibly the stone is one of these Mary's?? There seems to be quite a few Commeans/Commeens in Perry and Williamson Counties, IL. in the 1920 and 1930 censuses. Perhaps put an article in one of their newspapers? Surely there is someone who knows where this tombstone belongs. Good luck and hopefully the stone will be returned to its rightful place. Please forward this to the other sites so that it might possibly help someone. Thanks.
