Edward G. Allen, 51, of Broughton, passed away at 6:06 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.He was born in Carmi on Nov. 8, 1957, a son of Bobbie and Mary L. (Hines) Allen. He married Sandra L. Coy on Sept. 22, 1978, and she survives. He was a retired oil field worker with Stewart Oil Company of McLeansboro.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Revs. Mike Glenn and Robert Sefried officiating. Interment will follow at Crouch Cemetery in Bell Prairie.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funreal home.In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by his parents, Bobie and Mary Allen of Dale; a son, Robert Allen and wife Alicia of Broughton; two daughters, Stephanie Knight and husband Jamie of Broughton and Lisa Allen of Broughton; two grandchildren, Chyenne and Aydan Allen; a brother, Tim Allen and wife Terrie of McLeansboro; and a sister, Linda Shelton and husband Edward of Dale.He was preceded in death by a sister, Jennifer Allen.Edward attended Dale Pentecost Church for many years.For further information, you may call Gholson Funeral Home at 643-2321.
