arlene (Boyd) Blades, 75, of McLeansboro, died at 9:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center.She was born on Dec. 24, 1933, in McLeansboro, the daughter of Willard and Gretta (Wallace) Boyd. She married Charles Blades, and he preceded her in death.Mrs. Blades is survived by two sisters, Peggy Venable and Thelma Lou Johnson, both of McLeansboro; a stepson, Charles Paul Blades and wife Becky of Dahlgren; a stepdaughter, Sylvia Sutphin of Sheridan, Wyo.; and several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step grandchildren; and step great grandchildren.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Sven Wallace Boyd, Jack Gilman Boyd, Dan Boyd and Willard A. Boyd Jr.; and a sister, Frances Jane Jones.She was a retired telephone supervisor with Verizon Company and was a member of McLeansboro First Christian Church.Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro. The Rev. Carroll Kakac will officiate.Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.Memorials may be made to First Christian Church and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home.For further information you may contact Gholson Funeral Home at 643-2321.
