Harold Wayne Rector, 61, of Mt. Vernon, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009, at his home.He was born Tuesday, March 16, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Harold L. and Mary E. (Troutt) Rector. He married Delores M. Dill on Sept. 12, 1969, in McLeansboro.Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 31 at Woodlawn Odd Fellows Cemetery in Woodlawn with Father John Iffert officiating. Interment will follow. Members of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 30 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Members of the Mt. Vernon City Fire Department will conduct a walkthrough service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.Harold is survived by his mother; his wife; three daughters, Dodi Sink and husband Andrew of Mt. Vernon, Lori Borger and husband Craig of Phoenix, Ari. and Melissa Starr of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Shaylah Rector and Abby and Jacob Sink; a brother, James G. Rector of Mt. Vernon; a niece, Stephanie Ginder; two nephews, Chris Hass and Gregory J. Rector; a half-brother, Jonathan Rector; and mother-in-law Dorothy Dill of McLeansboro.His father preceded him in death.Harold was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and Purple Heart recipient during the Vietnam War. He was a retired Mt. Vernon City Firefighter and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt.
