Doris Hunt, 93, met her Savior face to face Tuesday evening, Nov. 24, 2009, at Bethesda Meadow Skilled Care Facility in Ellisville, Mo., in west St. Louis County. Doris was born Gillia Doris Endicott on March 31, 1916, in Dale to Kelly and Grace Endicott. She was a devoted wife to Paul Hunt for 53 years. Doris was a beloved mother of three, grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of 10. Doris loved people, Scripture and music. She was a piano accompanist for Dale Baptist Church for 50 years and played for other churches and organizations throughout her life. Doris was a Sunday school teacher at Dale Baptist for 30 years and moved her membership to First Baptist McLeansboro in 1990 when Dale Church closed. Doris was always eager to have friends and family come to visit. She enjoyed cooking, playing music and having a good laugh. Doris never tired of reading her Bible and learning new truths from Scripture. She was curious and inquisitive about life around her.The family wishes to thank Bethesda Meadow Skilled Care Facility in Ellisville, Mo., where she lived for the past three years, and the hospice staff for their assistance and care for Doris in her final days. Visitation services will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Ernie Essary and the Rev. Harl Cockrum will officiate with burial in Digby Cemetary in Dale.Mrs. Hunt is survived by two daughters, Kay Dobson of Rockford and Kathryn and husband Joe Mitchell of Ballwin, Mo.; one son, Max Hunt and wife Dana of Dale; nine grandchildren, Marty Dobson of Fargo, N.D., David Dobson and wife Mary of Rockford, Michelle Calabrese and husband Tony of Davenport, Iowa, Marleen Harrison and husband Reid of Las Vegas, Stephanie Mitchell of Ballwin, Mo., Shelly Redman and husband Bill of Eureka, Mo., Tammy Rhodes and husband Sam of Petal, Miss., Carmin Rubenaker and husband Rodney of Dahlgren and Scott Hunt and wife Angie of Dale; 10 great-grandchildren, Anthony Calabrese of Davenport, Iowa, Kate Pryor of Eureka, Mo., Rachel Redman of Eureka, Mo., Seth and Madison Rhodes of Petal, Miss., Adam and Megan Rubenacker of Dahlgren and Logan, Laban and Larsen Hunt of Dale; and nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Donald Endicott; and many treasured friends.
