Dorothy Ella Mae "Shorty" Watkins, age 81, of Waltonville died 8:21 p.m. Friday November 6, 2009 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born May 4, 1928, in Dahlgren, Illinois, daughter of Joe and Rose (Williamson) Miller. She married George Watkins on August 6, 1951 in Morganfield, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2001. Dorothy was retired from Vern-Wood Press in Mt. Vernon. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Linda Watkins-Hanna and husband Stuart of Waltonville, Illinois; one sister, Geraldine McGrew of Dekalb, Illinois; two granddaughters, Kayla Watkins and Melia Hanna both of Waltonville; and also two step-granddaughters, Abigail and Samantha Hanna both of Salem. Her parents and one sister Josephine Norton preceded her in death. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday November 11, 2009 at Flint Cemetery in Belle Rive, Illinois with Pastor Derek Downs officiating.
