Shirley Ann York, 72, of Enfield, died at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2009, at her home.She was born on Jan. 25, 1937, in McLeansboro, the daughter of Ernest and Iva (Pierce) Ray. She married Gene York on Feb. 16, 1956, and he preceded her in death in 2006.Mrs. York is survived by a son, Vuel York and wife Tammy of McLeansboro; a daughter, Stacey Brown of Enfield; four grandchildren, Samantha York, Alexis York and Alicia York all of McLeansboro and Joplin Tedford of Enfield; a brother-in-law, Grover Morphis of Bible Grove; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Shirley McGehee of Springerton; and two sisters, Pauline Gross and husband Charles of Mt. Vernon and Glodine Hatfield of McLeansboro.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Geraldine Adams, Thelma Morphis and Sue Chapman. Mrs. York attended the Christian church. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Jack Stone officiating.
