Tarena Marie French and Ian Brett Mellington were united in marriage Dec. 12, 2009, at L'Eglise in Lafayette, La. The bride is the daughter of Daniel and Cynthia Mitchell of McLeansboro and the granddaughter of Glenda and the late Lyle Schaefer. The groom is the son of Brett and Donna Mellington of Lafayette, La., and the grandson of Lyle and Daisy Mellington and the late Tony and Agnes Breaux. The bride was escorted by both her father and mother. She wore an elegant ivory, A-line, strapless satin gown; it was complemented with a one-layered elbow-length ivory veil. She carried a gorgeous bouquet of roses and tulips. Serving as matron of honor was Kay Hoffman. Bridesmaids were Corinth French, sister of the bride, Whitney Johnston, Tiffany Richard and April Gauthier. Serving as best man was Eric Mellington, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Cory Dugas, Douglas Gauthier, Carl Suire, David Guidry and Steven Menard. Stephen Guidry served as an usher. Following the ceremony, a reception was also held at L'Eglise.
