Ava E. Jacobs, 84, Carmi, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born Dec. 4, 1925 at Burnt Prairie, the daughter of William and Hettie (Musgrave) Pollard. She married Charles M. Jacobs on July 18, 1946 in Kentucky, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2007. Mrs. Jacobs was a beautician and homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Carmi. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Trudy Jacobs of Carmi; one grandson, John Alex Jacobs of Evansville, Ind.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Darrell Sexton of Carmi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and one sister, Ruby Pollard. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2010 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair in Carmi, with burial in Maple Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Carmi First Presbyterian Church.
