Mr. Edward L. Szramkowski, of Radom, departed this life at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at 1:37 p.m. He had attained the age of 82 years, 8 months and 26 days. Mr. Szramkowski was born on the family farm in rural DuBois on July 11, 1927, the son of Anton and Mary (Lamczik) Szramkowski. Edward was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a plant maintenance electrician at Combustion Engineering in Hematite, Mo., for many years until his retirement. Edward was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom. Left to mourn his passing is a brother, Leonard Szramkowski and his wife Florence of Radom; two sisters, Caroline Novak of Ashley and Florence Waier of McLeansboro; five nephews, David Szramkowski, Donald Novak, Jim Rozanski, John Rozanski and Kenneth Waier; six nieces, Cheryl Deering, Janet Denton, Paulette Piasecki, Judy Koehler, Karen Millenbine and Karla Lee; and other relation and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Loraine and Leo Rozanski; an infant sister, Rose Mary Szramkowski; and two brothers-in-law, Edward Novak and Albert Waier. Mass of Christian burial will be held at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Father Robert Zwilling officiating and with interment in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 110. Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley on tonight from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 until 9:30 a.m. A rosary prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Should friends desire mass offerings or memorials can be made to the St. Michael Church or St. Michael School and will be accepted at the Campagna Funeral Home.
