In Journal Star of Peoria, Ill. Sunday Jan. 24, 2010 (photo included) RICHARD AYDT *East Peoria* - Richard "Dick" W. Aydt, 82, of East Peoria died at 12:03 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at his home. He was born July 28, 1927, in Dahlgren, Ill., to Andrew L. and Clara C. Karcher Aydt. He married Charlene J. Noe on April 11, 1959, in Peoria at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. She survives. Dick also is survived by his son, Mike (Karolyn) Aydt of Washington; daughter, Tammy (Steve) Geier of East Peoria; three grandchildren, Ashley (Scott) Roth, Emily Aydt and Seth Aydt; and a great-grandson, Callen Roth. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Aydt. Dick served in the Navy Seabees during World War II and also in the Army during the Korean War. He was a loyal employee, having worked at Hiram Walker & Sons as a bottling supervisor for 35 years until his retirement in 1981. He also worked at Morton Auto Auction for 22 years, last working in August 2004. Dick was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria, where he served as an usher and a volunteer groundskeeper for many years. He was a member of the Msgr. E.L. Grzybowski Knights of Columbus Council in East Peoria and was a 65-year member of the American Legion. A funeral Mass for Dick will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria, with visitation being held an hour prior to services. Father Ken Marchulones will officiate. Burial will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria. Additional visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with a prayer service taking place at 6:45 p.m. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or his church.
