The body of a McLeansboro man was found Thursday morning at a rural Jefferson County oil tank lease road. According to Jefferson County Sheriff Roger Mulch, Charles R. Britton, 51, of McLeansboro, was discovered inside a company tanker truck. At approximately 10:18 a.m., Jefferson County dispatch received a 911 call from an employee with Becker Oil Company advising of a deceased person found in the truck, which was located approximately 1/4 mile south of Union Chapel Church on North Tolle Lane, east on a lease road to the oil storage tanks. County deputies, along with Litton Ambulance and Jefferson Fire Protection District personnel responded to the scene. "It appears Mr. Britton was performing work at this oil field site when he expired due to natural causes," Mulch said in a press release issued on Thursday. "The Jefferson County Coroner's office was notified and dispatched to the scene." No foul play is suspected and both the JCSO and coroner's office continue to investigate the death.
