Vada F. Willis, 75, of Kevil, Ky., formerly of McLeansboro, died at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at the Allen House in Atlantic, Iowa.She was born Dec. 28, 1934, in Hamilton County, a daughter of William "Bill" and Julia (Harrelson) Mitchell. She married James Raymond Hunter, who preceded her in death, and she later married Russell Willis, who preceded her in death.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Revs. Robert Sefried and Ted Mitchell officiating.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.Interment will be at IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro.Vada is survived by a son, Alan Hunter and wife Karen of Lewis, Iowa; three grandchildren, Wendy Hunter of Plymouth, Neb., Shane Bruns of San Diego, Calif. and Charles Bruns of Lavista, Neb.; five great-grandchildren, Joshua and Savanna Bruns, Josie Piper and Anthony and Alex Vo; five brothers, William H. Mitchell Jr. and wife Trudy of Evansville, Ind., Robert E. Mitchell and wife Flora of Montgomery, Ala., Ted J. Mitchell and wife Kathryn of McLeansboro, Don C. Mitchell and wife Dixie of Kevil, Ky. and Thomas M. Mitchell of Riverview, Fla.; and two sisters, Nadine Duay of Morris and Mary Cluck of McLeansboro.She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.Vada worked for several years as a bookkeeper for Nevlin Moving and Storage in Alton. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was of the Protestant faith.Memorials may by made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.Gholson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
