Mary Helen Midgette, 70, of McLeansboro, died 10:56 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at her home. She was born Oct. 9, 1936, in Shawneetown, the daughter of Garland and Gertrude (Trusty) Edwards. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Watson of Austin, Texas, Marjorie (Michael) Martinez of Florrisant, Mo., and Lynn (Hames) Erkmann of McLeansboro; four grandchildren, James (wife Jessie) Anderson, Lisa (husband Mark) Maloney, Kindra York and Kyla (husband Lucas) Webb; nine great-grandchildren, Jordan Spurlock, Aran Maloney, Logan Karl, Madison Vineyard, Camdyn Maloney, Vada Webb, Caylen Maloney, Kiera Maloney and Deacon Webb; brother and sisters, Sue (husband Raymond) Griffin of Aurora, Donna Asbridge of Coal City, Clara Walker of Arkansas and Carl (wife Pauline) Edwards of Vienna. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gregory Charles Spurlock; two sisters, Eva Bruce and Betty Monell; and two brothers, Dick Edwards and Garland Edwards Jr. She worked as a waitress at former Pats Cafe McLeansboro. She also did private duty care for several years. She was a member of McLeansboro Eagles Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Gholson Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Interment will be at Adkin Cemetery near Omaha. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of services t the funeral home.
