Charles F. Mayberry 81-year-old Rt. 4 McLeansboro resident, Charles F. Mayberry, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, December 8 at his home. He was a 20-year U.S. military veteran, serving ten years in the U.S. Navy and ten years in the U.S. Air Force. He was also a Korean War Veteran, member of the American Legion Post, and also drove a school bus at the Norris City Schools for 20 years. Surviving are his wife, Johanna Mayberry; two sons, Pete of McLeansboro and Mark of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Margaret Rose Nieuwsma of Bismark, ND and Sonya Zurliene of Breese, IL; ten grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services for Charles F. Mayberry will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 12 at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery at McLeansboro, with graveside military rites by the American Legion Post #106. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, December 11 at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Memorials may be made to Southern Illinois Hospice, and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
