Betty J. Tupper, 84, of McLeansboro, died 3:16 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon. She was born Dec. 2, 1927, in Beaucoup, the daughter of Henry E. and Georgetta (Richardson) Schmidt. She married Charles F. Tupper on Dec. 7, 1957; he preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, Roger Dean (Linda) Tupper of Mt. Vernon, Lester (Rhonda) Tupper of Mt. Vernon, Larry D. Tupper of San Diego and Donald G. (Pat) Kane of Florida; daughter, Judy Cowan of Peoria; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Charles "Chuck" Kane and a brother and a sister in infancy. Mrs. Tupper was a retired certified nurse aid at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was a member of Delafield Baptist Church and the McLeansboro American Legion Post 106 Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Tony Auxier officiating. Interment will be at Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
